It is no secret that the clear front-runner for the Democratic Presidential Nomination in 2016 is Hillary Clinton. This is not the first time Clinton has run for the Democratic nomination. In 2008, she lost to then senator, now president, Barack Obama. Clinton was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000. She was assigned to multiple committees, which included the Committee on the Budget; the Committee on Armed Services; the Committee on Environment and Public Works; the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; and the Special Committee on Aging.

Between 1999 and 2014, Clinton’s Campaign Committee raised $328,755,858 and spent a total of $326,139,756. Her top five contributors were Citigroup Inc., Goldman Sachs, DLA Piper, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and EMILY’s List. The top five industries that donated to her cause were Lawyers/Law Firms, Retirees, Securities and Investment, Real Estate, and Women’s Issues. The breakdown of her fund sources consists of Individual Contributions (88%), PAC Contributions (1%), Candidate self-financing (4%) and Other (6%).
